Do this in remembrance of Me

I Corinthians 11:24 "..and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, 'Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me' "

If you take a close look at the Matzah bread that is often used during communion services, and which the Jews eat during their Passover meal, you will notice that it is unleavened. It doesn't have any yeast. It is also pierced with little holes that form stripes up and down the bread. It is slightly burnt as well.

This bread that we hold in our hands speaks of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ when He bore our sins on the cross. Like the bread, He was pierced in His brow by the crown of thorns, as well as in His hands and feet by the nails. He was also pierced in His side by a soldier's spear. The prophet Isaiah said that "He was pierced for our transgressions"

Jesus was also scourged on His back, until His flesh was torn and bleeding. Isaiah also spoke that "by His stripes, we are healed".

What about the burn marks? The full fire of God's wrath fell upon Jesus. He bore the fiery judgment that should have been ours, so that we could be forgiven.

When you know the precious truths about our Lord's body on the cross, it brings to light in an even greater way, the love of our Savior. This is His body, which was broken....for YOU...don't think I can say much more than that.
