It is possible to live many years of our lives under a veil. A veil is not merely an old fashioned face covering. It is not something white that is reserved for a new bride, or something black that is placed on a widow's hat. A veil is anything we hide behind. When we are hiding behind anything, or anyone..it breaks our direct eye contact with God.
What do you hide behind? I remember when we moved to Sacramento and had to find a church and meet new people..it was hard. I hid behind my husband. It was easier to let him go shake hands and initiate conversation, than to do it myself. I would stand there smiling and hoping no one would approach me..because it was a difficult time..but it ended up being a time of growth..a time of digging in to everything God had for me and planting myself firmly in Him. That took time but I am thankful now as I look back for that time in my life that caused me to trust Him more.
Do you ever find yourself wanting to just hide..maybe behind your spouse, your children, your friends, or even your reputation? Do you hide behind your fear, your past, your shame, your perceived unworthiness, your mistakes, your definition of yourself, your family, your title at the office, your image at church, or even your pride?
Coming to Christ is an unveiling. He wants to bring us out from behind the curtain of fear, shame, pride..or whatever it might be. Then the glory of the Spirit of God is imparted to us, which is excellent... and it lasts. Turn your unveiled face to the Son, and let Him shine on, in and through you, as He transforms you into the radiant beauty that He knows you to be.
By beholding the nature of God with unveiled minds, we become more like Him. We are changed..from glory to glory. We see the truth about Christ..and it changes us and transforms us. This is a progression that takes place throughout our lives as Jesus begins to reveal Himself to us in new ways.
Today, I want each of you to realize how MUCH Jesus loves you...how MUCH He wants to show Himself to you..how strong His desire is to be in every situation that you deal with. We have all seen television programs where there is an 'Unveiling" at the end...they remake someone's home, or someone's yard, or even someONE...but I am telling you all to stand by..because as you plant yourself firmly in Christ, you will begin to see the most incredibly beautiful "unveiling" that you have ever seen! You will be changed as you become more and more like Him.
