Matthew 25:40 "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
I'll never forget the fear that began to grip my life when my husband began to share with me, his burden for those in prison. God has used a couple of very difficult trials in Ray's life to bring him to the point of forgetting about himself..and to fill him with a love for the young men that we have the privilege to minister to every other week. I have looked back at times and wondered what I was afraid of..when God calls you to something, His very plan for your life is unfolding. He is with you, and there is nothing to fear.
The truth is, that God has called each and every one of us..not only to love each other, but to reach out in that love and minister or help someone in who is in need. In my opinion, helping others is not only such a wonderful way to bless someone, but it also helps us to get our minds off of ourselves. So often we stay stuck going through life, thinking about what we don't have, or what we need, or how we plan to fulfill our own needs..I believe I have the answer. Help someone else.
There is a ministry right now that is getting ready to send much needed shoes to children in South America. These little kids have never in their lives owned a pair of shoes. They have to walk on burning hot soil, and many times they actually pick up pinworms in the bottom of their feet. To have a pair of shoes would be such a luxury. I want to be a part of something that seems so small, and yet to someone in need, is so huge. A pair of shoes for a child in need costs about $3.00..such a small amount, and yet such a great blessing for a precious little child.
If you look around you today, there is someone in your life who is in need. This week, I am asking each of us to pray and ask God to show us how we can bless someone. Often, to help someone else doesn't even require much time, or much money..but it can mean the world to someone who is really hurting. Remember as you minister to others this week, that Jesus said, "When you have done it unto the least of these, you have done it unto Me."
