Exodus 14:13 "Fear not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will show unto you today"

I believe this verse contains God's instructions to all of us, as believers, for those times when we are confronted with dire circumstances and extraordinary difficulties. What are we to do when we cannot retreat or go forward? What are we to do when our way is blocked to the right and to the left?
The Master's word to us is, "stand still". I believe the best thing we can do at these times is to listen only to Him.
Despair will come, whispering to us that we should give up, or even lie down and die. But even in the worst of times, God would want us to stand firm. He would want us to have courage. He would want us to continue to believe in His faithfulness.
Cowardice will come and say, "You must retreat to the world's ways of acting." We sometimes come to believe that it is too difficult for us to continue living the life of a child of God. We are tempted to abandon what we believe...yet no matter how much the devil, or even people may pressure us to not follow God's course for our lives, we must remind ourselves daily that we are children of the King..The Lord's divine decree has been that we will go from "strength to strength" (Psalm 84:7).. Therefore, nothing should turn us away from our course. If for a season, the Lord calls on us to "stand firm", may we look at it as a time to renew our strength for greater strides in the future.
Impatience will come, crying "Get up and DO something!" I believe that the thing we often should DO..is to stand firm..and keep our eyes and our hearts fixed on Jesus. He will not only do SOMETHING..He will do whatever is needed in our situation.
Arrogance will come, speaking into our minds that if something is blocking our way, we should march right into it and expect a miracle. Yet, I believe that true faith doesn't listen to arrogance, impatience, cowardice or despair. True faith listens to the voice of God saying, "stand firm".
Beloved, stand firm. Wait on the Lord for further direction. Listen for the Director's voice. In times of uncertainty, wait. If you have any doubt, wait. If you sense any restraint in your spirit, wait.
"And therefore will the Lord wait, that He may be gracious to you.....blessed are all they that wait for Him." Isaiah 30:18
