2 Samuel 22:19 "They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my support."
We all dread the phone ringing in the middle of the night..the call from our child's teacher..our spouse needing to have a serious discussion..the police officer standing at our front door. I remember when I was about 9 years old, my parents had gone to Nevada. They were supposed to be home at a certain time and didn't arrive. I was young and didn't really understand what was happening...but my older sister knew. She knew something was wrong. Around 1 am, the phone rang. Our parents had been in a major accident. Our mom was in the hospital..several hours from where we lived. We didn't have a car to get in, to go see them..we didn't even have cell phones back then...so we waited. My sister comforted me that night..she told me that no matter what happened, we would be ok. Those words are always so good to hear.
Beloved, do you know, that no matter what happens, when you are a child of God, things will be ok. That night, I was too young to think about all the "what if's", of the situation. I only knew that my sister was with me, and that she would take care of me. I have thought many times since that evening so many years ago, that this is how it is with the Lord. When we are faced with a very difficult situation, the Lord doesn't want us to think about all the "what if's". He wants us to know, that no matter what happens, He will take care of us. When we are in a trial, we only passing through..we are not stuck there. This pain is a detour, not a destiny.
The passing years, and the time spent with Jesus are the workshop for moments like this. In the moment of our disaster, the Lord IS our support. Train yourself to look at Him first, and to continue steadfastly looking at Him. You will certainly be safe in His care.
