Philippians 1:6 "And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ, dev

I wonder how many times we've heard preachers say that God has a plan for our life. Ray and I have said that often to the inmates in the facilities where we minister. We want to encourage the wards that God sees where they are, and that He cares, and can still work in their lives, despite their situation. I think that often when people hear that God has a plan, they smile and nod, and then go on their way..I'm not sure if most people truly believe it..and many times our lives don't really seem to be a reflection of it.
I wonder sometimes if we hear that word "perfect" and we are troubled by it. We are fallible and make mistakes. We wonder how any plan of God's could be "perfected" in our lives because we know ourselves too well. We know our own shortcomings and even our own thoughts that can sometimes be anything but "perfect".
Beloved, the plan isn't perfect because we're perfect. The plan is perfect because God is perfect. The verse says that God has begun a good work in us. His Spirit is continually with us, nudging us forward. Paul also wrote that we are God's workmanship. That is an amazing statement because God created us in His own image. We are His handiwork, and at the same time, He is at work IN us..
It's not that we are perfect or ever will be perfect while on earth. The point is that God is perfect and has a plan for us. The plan for our lives is perfect because it comes from the Perfect Planner. As the Holy Spirit leads, we keep our eyes on Jesus and His ability, not on ourselves and our disabilities and shortcomings. As soon as we begin to think about our failures and shortcomings, we have our eyes on ourselves, and not on Him. Our loving Lord pleads with us to turn our minds and hearts fully over to Him. The more we do that, the more we live by His perfect plan.
If you are feeling weak in this area, speak to God today. Let Him know that you are continually reminded of your imperfections, but ask Him to remind you of His perfection, and His love, so that you can always walk in victory.
