Spread Your Wings

Deuteronomy 32:11 "As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings."
This is such a neat passage of Scripture. In the verses preceeding verse 11, Moses speaks of the goodness of God. He states that God is the Rock..His work is perfect..He is a God of truth. He asks the question..Is He not thy Father that hath bought thee? He states that the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance..but then he says that the Lord's portion of that inheritance is his people!!!!! Friends, that is you and me..YOU..are God's inheritance! It goes on to speak of Jacob..the Lord found him in a desert land..and led him..instructed him..and kept him as the apple of His eye. Beloved..if only we fully knew and understood the LOVE of God..if only we could comprehend the depth of that love..I promise you it would change us..
Verse 11 goes on to speak about the Lord..that like an eagle who stirs up it's nest, the Lord hovers over His little ones. Like an eagle who spreads out it's wings to catch it's young..so will the Lord catch us when we fall. He will carry us as an eagle who carries it's young on it's feathers. I have heard a little bit about the eagle..First of all, the eagle builds it's nest on the Rock..the eagle needs a solid foundation from which to begin to build. The Bible says that we should build our lives on the Rock..of Christ..not on sand that sinks. Like the eagle, we need a strong foundation on which to build our lives. The eagle mates for life..and when the mama and papa eagle are building their nest, the mama pads the nest with her feathers to make it a comfortable place for the little eaglet. .
When the eaglet is about 12 weeks old, the mama bird begins to throw all of the comfortable feathers that were in the nest out..she wants the little eaglet to learn how to fly so she removes all the comfy stuff from the nest. She takes the eaglet on her wings, and flies high into the air..and then..of all things..she drops him! Have you ever felt like you've been dropped by God? The mama bird waits, and then swoops in and grabs the little eaglet right before he hits the ground. Can you imagine what the little eaglet is thinking? He probably wonders what he did to make his mama mad at him...he probably wonders why she doesn't love him any more..She does this over and over..until finally..the little eaglet figures out what to do.. he begins to flap his wings, probably out of desperation more than anything..but then he learns..that he can fly...and he realizes what the one he trusted was doing. Beloved, when you are in the most desperate of situations..God has not forsaken you! You are the apple of His eye! But sometimes, the Lord allows some of the things we find comfort in, to be removed from our lives. He doesn't do this because He's mad at us or wants to punish us..He wants our comfort to be in Him. He allows trials because He wants us to fly. Like the eagle, He wants us to soar above the problems in this life..and if we begin to fall..we can trust that He will catch us. Beloved, Jesus IS that Rock on which He wants us to build our lives.Like Jacob, when you are feeling alone..when you are feeling like you are in a desert place, you can trust that Jesus knows where you are..He has not lost sight of you. He will lead you. He will instruct you.. He will catch you when you fall..and He will carry you when you have little strength. YOU are the apple of His eye. He wants you to grow..He wants you to trust Him...He wants you to SOAR because He is God..and He is good..all the time.
