Romans 6:13b "But yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God".
For the last several years, the Lord has laid it on my heart to bless my husband when he comes home from work. I try my best to make our home a place of peace. I usually greet him at the door, bring him something to drink, and seat him on the living room sofa. We have dinner and if the phone rings, I let the voice mail take a message. I know that he's had enough demands during the day, and enough decision making. I try to let him unwind before I spring anything too challenging..like that the gazebo blew over the fence and is now laying in the neighbor's yard..(that really did happen to us)..Anyway, I've thought about how wonderful it is to have a peaceful home..a place of refuge..a place that you want to come home to.. and probably most of all, a place that you really don't want to leave...and then I think about heaven. Heaven is such a place. Heaven is actually a perfect place. There are no unkind words in heaven..but there is the sound of the four and twenty elders crying "Thou art worthy, oh Lord". There are no tears in heaven, but there is a pure river of water of life. There is no more death or dying, but there is a tree of life and the leaves of that tree are for the healing of the nations. There is no night time in heaven, but candles are not needed, neither the light of the sun..because the Lord God Himself gives light. Above all, the One who died for us is there. There is so much to be said in that one little statement..the One who died for us...the One who LEFT His PERFECT home in heaven..to come to an imperfect earth..the One who knew us while we were YET sinners..and yet..He laid down His life..No one took it from Him.. He laid it down. My own home is such a refuge for me from the craziness this life has to offer...and yet, Christ had a perfect home..and chose to leave it..FOR YOU.
Beloved, my thought for you today is simply this..YOU CAN TRUST THE MAN WHO DIED FOR YOU. You can trust the Man who left His home..His PERFECT home..to come and offer up His life for you. If you cannot trust Him..then who..WHO..can you trust? The Savior who loved all of us enough to die for us can be absolutely trusted with the total concerns of the lives that He has saved!
Dear friend, you can trust the Man who died for you. You can trust Him to thwart each plan that should be stopped and to complete each one that results in His greatest glory and your highest good. You can trust Him with your heart. You can trust Him in all things. You can trust Him to lead you down the path that is the very best in this world for you.
Today, yield yourself to Him. Ask the One who died for you to help you to trust in Him. It is because of Him that we can face every day with confidence. He will never let you down.
