Lamentations 3:24 "The Lord is my portion saith my soul; therefore will I hope in Him."

I usually try on Fridays to give you some kind of thought to go through your weekend with. This weekend the thought that was on my heart was simply..the Lord is my portion. The Lord IS your portion friend..When you are in an impossible situation, He IS your portion...when you are facing a loss, He IS your portion. When your child is away from God, He IS your portion. When you can't find work, He IS your portion.
I feel like I am the last person to try explain the ways of God. There are so many things in my own life that I've been waiting for, for such a long time. God's ways are so far above our ways and His timing is not the same as ours..and I think maybe through the waiting, and through knowing that it truly is ONLY God who can work in the situations and the hearts of people in my own life, I am learning that the Lord IS my portion. When I have felt hopeless, I have come to know that He IS my hope. If I keep my eyes set on people..if I keep my eyes set on the situation at hand, I will find MYSELF trying to fix the problem..running from person to person looking for answers..and all the while, the Lord is saying..I am your portion! I am your hope! Come to me when you are weak and your burdens are heavy, and I will give you rest.
There is never a time when we cannot hope in God, whatever our need, or however great our difficulty might be. It has always been sad to me that the two disciples walking on the road to Emmaus with Jesus didn't recognize him. Their words to him were that they HAD hoped that it would have been Jesus who redeemed Israel..rather than believing that there was STILL hope. In their minds, it was over. If only they had said, "Everything has come against our hope, yet we will not give up." Instead, they walked by His side, declaring their shattered faith. Jesus had to say to them, "How foolish you are..and how slow of heart to believe."
I have been in danger in my life at times of having those same words said to me..."How slow of heart to believe"...Friend, no matter WHAT you are going through today, the Lord IS your portion. When you are a child of God, Jesus is walking with you down the road of life..just as He walked with the two disciples that day. Sometimes we fail to see Him..Sometimes we tend to think, "I HAD hoped" as they did..but with Jesus, you HAVE hope. God often draws us during those darkest hours to have the most powerful bond to His throne that we could have ever known.
May the Lord draw you close and speak to your heart. May you fully know the richness of His love and care. He IS your hope. He IS your portion.
