Mark 15:3 "He answered nothing."

I don't know if there is a story anywhere in scripture that is more compelling to me than the one in the gospels, where our precious Savior, who was being reviled by men, remained silent. He answered nothing. With one quick burst of divine power, or one fiery word of rebuke, He could have caused His accusers to be laid prostrate at His feet. Yet, He answered not one word, allowing them to say and do their very worst. He stood in the POWER OF STILLNESS...God's holy, silent Lamb.
There is a place of stillness in every believer. It is a place of trust. It is a place deep, deep in the spirit of each of us, that lets us know, that whatever we are facing..even when it is the worst thing imaginable, that God can be trusted. It is a place which when we operate from, allows God to work for us, in our situation. It is a place where peace abides.
It is a stillness that stops our scheming, self-vindicating, and the search for a temporary means to an end through our own wisdom and judgement. Instead, it lets God provide an answer, through His unfailing and faithful love, to the cruel blow that we have suffered.I wonder how often we thwart God being able to intervene on our behalf by taking up our own cause or by striking a blow in our own defense.
May God grant each of us this silent power. May we remember that moving the hands of a clock does not change the time. May we all operate from that deep deep well of faith. Then once our earthly battles and strife are over, others will remember us as we now remember Him..leaving all in the very capable hands of the Father.
