2 Kings 3:25 A "And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the wells of water and felled all the good trees."
Back in the Old Testament, this was how wars were won. During this particular war, the Kings of Israel, Judah, and Edom stopped up all the wells of the Moabites. They threw rocks on their land and chopped down all the fertile trees. This made their land unfit for farming. In so doing, they would cripple their enemies so that it would take years for them to recover.
My friends, there is a war going on today in our souls (our minds, our will, and our emotions). There is so much continually coming against us, especially in recent days. Just to watch a news report can be a frightening thing. In the Spiritual realm, Jesus said there should be rivers of living water flowing through the life and heart of every believer..to me that means inside each of us..inside each of you..there is a well..a Spiritual well that God has put in the heart of every one of us..but for many today, those wells have been stopped up. There doesn't seem to be any real life flowing in and through many people. Often, we are heavy and weighed down with the cares of this life. We have an enemy who wants to "stop up our well"..
So...how do you "unstop" a well? Back years ago, the only real way, once the dirt and debris had been removed, was to flush the well, with tons of water. I believe it works the same way in the Spiritual realm. Jesus told the woman at the well in John 4:14 "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be IN HIM a well of water springing up into everlasting life." Wow! What a statement! Friends, there may be a time that we need to act very practically and ask the Lord about anything that needs to be "removed" from our life..anything that might be stopping up our well..but we need to daily drink of the living water..in other words, we simply need Jesus! This is another of His promises..He wants to be able to flow through our well, to permeate every area of our life, to overflow into the lives of those around us. Today, I encourage you to drink deeply from the well that is Christ. There is no straining effort in an overflowing life with Christ. This is the normal life of ceaseless accomplishment into which Christ invites each of us to enter.
May He richly bless you, as you drink deeply of Him in the days and weeks to come.
