The Word

Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
The Word of God is not merely a collection of words from God, a vehicle for communicating ideas; it is living, life-changing and dynamic as it works in us. With the incisiveness of a surgeon's knife, it reveals who we are and what we are not. It penetrates the core of our moral and spiritual life. It discerns what is within us, both good and evil. We shouldn't just listen only to the Word of God..we should allow it to shape our lives.
I couldn't begin to tell you the number of times I have picked up my Bible, and something I read literally spoke to my heart. I have received comfort, instruction, understanding...I could go on and on. The Word of God truly is living and life changing. It is the only book that I've ever read that is. You can read other books if you want to have knowledge in a variety of areas. Books are great for entertaining us also. We can be taken to all kinds of different places and almost feel like we become part of the story we're reading..but when we are looking for something full of truth, and full of life..the Bible is certainly all that and more.
I've heard many pastors preach about the Bible being God's love letter to us. If someone wrote you a love letter, you would certainly be excited to open it. That's how the Word of God is to us as well. It is God expressing His love for us, encouraging us, giving us answers and guidance. It is being filled with hope in an otherwise hopeless world. It helps us to overcome our fears, to not feel alone, to be free from guilt. It encourages us when we are sad, overwhelmed or worried. It helps us to know that we are accepted, forgiven, and that we can be confident in God's love. It is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of our hearts..and it becomes a mirror in which we begin to see ourselves.
May you all today be confident in Christ's love. May you be comforted and receive wisdom and direction in your life through His precious word..written to us so that we might truly know Him.
