Christ's death and resurrection frees us all

Hebrews 2:14-15 "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage"
This has been a year of loss..a good friend, an uncle, a sister..each time, there are questions..there is pain..but there is hope. This verse says so much for me..Jesus..our beloved and wonderful Savior..had to leave His perfect home in heaven to become "flesh and blood"..so that He could die. He was literally born to die. Even more amazing than all that is that He rose. He rose back up to new life. It was through His death and His resurrection that the power over death could be broken.
The power of death held people in bondage for centuries. It still does today..there are people who live in a constant fear of it..but when you are a child of the King..you know that death is not to be feared..it is a beginning.. of new life. I recently heard someone who was critically ill say that she didn't want to live dying..she wanted to die living. This was a woman who knew Jesus and wanted to spend every moment He gave her on this earth glorifying Him.
Christ's death and resurrection frees us from the fear of death because death has been defeated. Death is simply the doorway for believers..to new life. I want to live for Him. I want to remember daily that my Lord loved me..and loved each of you..so much that He was willing to suffer and die..so that the power of death over our lives could be broken..so that we could live free without fear or bondage. I want to remember daily that He understands my struggles because He faced the same struggles..but because of Him, we are overcomers.
Today, as you face the challenges of your day, remind yourself that because of Him..there is nothing in this life that you have to fear. Because of Him, you are set free. Because of Him, you are an overcomer..then ask Him to direct you every day by His power..to live the abundant life that He died to give you.
